Steps involved when applying for a role
Our multi-stage interview process is designed to ensure we have a fair and equal process to source the right candidate for every opportunity.
We celebrate diversity and inclusion and embrace individuals’ backgrounds. You can register and apply through our online career’s portal, which consists of uploading your CV and Cover Letter. For our early career paths, we utilise a contextual recruitment system at the application stage to provide a comprehensive measure of social mobility and identify resilient outperformers to help support equality. If you require us to make reasonable adjustments during the application process, please contact talent@britishland.com.
To remove any bias from the selection stage we anonymise your application, CV and Cover Letter. After submitting your application, our recruitment team will review your application and will be in touch to let you know the outcome as soon as possible.
Our structured interviews involve meeting the team and key stakeholders, typically requiring two to three interviews, with at least one in person, with all hiring managers receiving recruitment and unconscious bias training.
First-stage interviews include competency, experience, and technical questions. Early career paths include an online interview and assessment centre.
Final stage interviews will introduce you to the wider team and may include a case study, written analysis exercise or presentation.
Whatever the result, you will have the opportunity to receive feedback on your performance.
We endeavor to get back to all applicants within 28 days. If you do not hear from us within this period, please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
If you are successful in your application, a member of our Talent Acquisition team will be in touch to run you through your employment details and our benefits package.
At British Land, we are excited to see your interest in joining our team. As you prepare your application and gear up for the interview process, we understand that you might consider using AI tools to assist you. While AI can be a helpful resource, we would like to offer some advice on how to use it effectively and highlight some potential drawbacks.
Using AI Wisely: AI tools can be beneficial for generating ideas, organising your thoughts and even practicing interview questions. However, we recommend using AI as a supplementary tool rather than relying on it entirely. Here are a few reasons why:
Communication Skills: Over-reliance on AI can inhibit your ability to communicate naturally. Responses generated by AI may come across as robotic or scripted, which can detract from the authenticity of your interactions.
Uniqueness: AI-generated answers tend to be similar, making it harder for you to stand out from other candidates. Your unique experiences, perspectives and personality are what make you special and these can be overshadowed by generic AI responses.
Knowledge Display: During the interview stage, it is crucial to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the role and the company. If you have relied heavily on AI, you might struggle to articulate your insights and experiences effectively.
Our Recommendation: We encourage you to use AI tools to enhance your preparation but ensure that your application and interview responses reflect your whole self. Practice articulating your thoughts clearly and confidently without over-dependence on AI. This approach will help you showcase your true potential and make a lasting impression.
We look forward to learning more about you and how you can contribute to British Land. Best of luck with your application!
