Each year we hold property management forums for our Asset Managers and on-site management teams to discuss current issues and share best practice. In 2007 we extended these forums to include managing agents.
Our 2006 forum was held at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield. Topics discussed included customer service, waste management, energy efficiency and responsible procurement. All property managers and Asset Managers attending stated that they had found the forum useful and that they would be implementing initiatives at their properties following the forum.
Our next forum will be held at Glasgow Fort Shopping Park in June 2007. The day will begin with a review of feedback from the 2007 occupiers survey and plans to resolve issues raised. The Executive Officer and Corporate Responsibility Executive will then be providing an update on our commitment to become carbon neutral by 2008/9. Other topics to be discussed include water management and security. Video clips from the forum will be made available on the British Land website.
The presentation and discussion about waste management at the 2006 forum, led by Meadowhall’s Environment and Audit Manager, Mark Allison, was voted the most useful part of the day by attendees. Meadowhall went on to win a Business in the Community Big Tick for Waste Management and a British Land Corporate Responsibility Award for Waste Management.
“I find the property management forums extremely useful. The chance to meet with other people doing a similar job is a great opportunity to pick up new ideas. The waste management initiative at Meadowhall was very informative and gave a great insight into what can be achieved when trying to implement a recycling regime.” Mike Clarke, Park Manager, Teesside Shopping Park.
“The property management forums provide good opportunities for us to communicate with our property managers and managing agents. They help to ensure that the people who are involved in managing our properties, whether they are based at our Head Office, at our properties around the UK or at one of our managing agents, understand British Land’s approach to important issues such as customer service. They also provide a useful forum for these management teams to discuss ideas with each other and provide us with feedback.” Justin Snoxall, Head of the Business Group.
