This is our fifth year of corporate responsibility reporting. We continue to embed corporate responsibility so that it is a part of how we do business.

In 2006, to integrate our corporate responsibility (CR) reporting with our financial reporting and in the interests of sustainability, we published our full CR Report online and printed a summary report. More about CR at British Land from Stephen Hester.

67.5% of the CO₂ emissions from the common areas of our managed portfolio was from renewable energy sources
92% of the waste processed at Meadowhall’s Resource Recovery Centre in 2006 was recycled

Awards

We won awards for Retail Deal and Retail Developer/ Investor of the Year. Meadowhall Shopping Centre won awards for Energy Efficiency, Waste Management and Employability.
