Chris was chief executive of Barclays Commercial Bank until November 2008, having joined the bank in 2005. Prior to Barclays, he was a partner of Goldman Sachs, where his career spanned 20 years.

Lucinda Bell

Chief Financial Officer

Skills and experience:
Lucinda is a chartered accountant with over 25 years of industry experience. In 2006 she was a member of the HM Treasury appointed working party which designed the implementation of the REIT regime. She is also Chairman of Broadgate Estates.

Tim Roberts

Head of Offices and Residential

Skills and experience
Before joining British Land in 1997 Tim was a partner at Drivers Jonas, in the Investment Agency team. He was formerly a non-executive director of Songbird Estates until 2009.

Trustee of the property industry charity, LandAid, and Chair of the Grants Committee.

Charles Maudsley

Head of Retail and Leisure

Skills and experience
Charles joined British Land in 2010 from LaSalle Investment Management. He had previously been with AXA Real Estate Investment Managers for seven years.

Nigel Webb

Head of Developments

Nigel joined British Land in 1992 and was appointed Head of Developments in July 2003. He has responsibility for the Group's development activities including leading development acquisitions, planning, construction and leasing.

Previous experience
Nigel has over 30 years experience in commercial property investment & development. Prior to British Land Nigel worked for developer Greycoat PLC.

Sally Jones

Head of Strategy and Investments

Sally joined British Land in February 2010 as Head of Investor Relations and took responsibility for Strategy alongside Investor Relations in January 2015. In May 2016, she was appointed Head of Strategy and Investments. Her responsibilities also include Corporate Communications.

Previous experience
Before joining British Land Sally worked at Cadbury Schweppes where she held a variety of roles over ten years including Director of Investor Relations, Director of Communications and Finance Director Group Sales and Marketing. Prior to that she worked in the City.

Joff Sharpe

Head of Operations

Joff Sharpe joined British Land in July 2013 as Human Resources Director and was promoted to Head of Operations in October 2014. His responsibilities cover HR, Technology, Branding and Internal Communications.

Previous experience
Before joining British Land he worked in a number of organisations including Mars, PepsiCo and Vodafone as well as private equity backed companies. His roles were primarily in HR to help strengthen the talent base, culture, organisation and effectiveness of the businesses. His early career was spent in the British Army.

Darren Richards

Head of Retail Asset Management

Darren Richards is responsible for the Asset Management of the British Land Retail portfolio. He joined British Land in 2005 and was previously Head of Investment for the business. He joined the Executive Committee in 2014.

Previous experience
Darren worked at retail property specialist Pillar as Head of UK investment prior to joining British Land having also worked at CBRE.

Elaine Williams

Company Secretary and General Counsel

Elaine was appointed Company Secretary and General Counsel in November 2015.

Previous experience
Elaine was formerly Deputy Group Company Secretary at HSBC Holdings plc and, prior to that, a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Roger Madelin CBE

Head of Canada Water Development

Roger joined British Land in February 2016 and was appointed to lead on the Canada Water development project, a 46 acre development opportunity in Central London.

Previous experience
Roger joined Argent in 1987. He became a Director in 1989 and, for the ten years that followed, was responsible for delivering Argent’s 67 acre King’s Cross development, as well as all of Argent’s other developments including Green Park and Thames Valley Park in Reading, Brindleyplace in Birmingham, Piccadilly in Manchester and office buildings in the City of London. He became CEO in 1997.

Roger is an Honorary Fellow of RIBA, an Honorary Fellow of the College of Estate Management and was awarded a CBE for ‘services to sustainable development’ in the 2007 Honours List.
