We secured planning consent in September 2008 for a landmark 35-storey tower which will provide 280,000 sq ft of office space in central Birmingham’s prime office location.
The building will incorporate a range of sustainable measures and provide a 30% overall reduction in energy use compared with current standards. It will accommodate biodiversity enhancement elements such as green/brown roofs and wildlife boxes.

We have planning consent for a 2.2 million sq ft mixed use scheme, including office, residential, a new riverside park and a range of measures to enhance the biodiversity of the area.
The project is intended to act as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of the Lower Don Valley and the area immediately adjacent to our Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

Through a joint venture with Goodman Real Estate (UK) Limited, we have received resolution to grant planning consent for a revised mixed use scheme of 1.0 million sq ft which includes a range of commercial and hotel space and 365 2-3 bedroom homes and a 4 acre site for a new primary school. New road infrastructure and landscaping will bring all elements of the development together.

Fort Kinnaird is owned by The Gibraltar Limited Partnership, a 50% joint venture between Hercules Unit Trust and The Crown Estate.
The 110,000 sq ft extension to the existing scheme of 506,000 sq ft has detailed planning consent with ongoing discussions with key retailers.
In addition, a new application is being worked up at present with the intention of creating additional retail space.

This shopping park is owned by the Hercules Unit Trust. Phase 2 consists of a 175,000 sq ft extension which has a resolution to grant detailed planning consent, subject to completion of a section 75 agreement. The development is to be anchored by a 80,000 sq ft unit pre-let to Marks & Spencer.
Going forward, planning has been obtained for a new eight screen cinema with five restaurant units. Construction has commenced with the opening in October 2012, subject to exchanging contracts with a cinema operator.

Broughton Shopping Park is owned by the Hercules Unit Trust. Plans are being worked up for 60,000 sq ft of additional retail space within four new units. The application will be submitted.

In a joint venture with Canada Quays Limited, we have a Development Agreement with the London Borough of Southwark for the development of a major mixed use scheme, which includes master planning 40 acres of the Rotherhithe Peninsula. The area includes the site of the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre in which we acquired a 50% interest in 2009.
Eight acres have been sold to Barratt Homes for the construction of 828 residential units; we participate in a share of the sale proceeds.
